Benefits vary from plan to plan, and a verification is not a guarantee of coverage.

Where to start

Which level of addiction treatment comes first?

Many people start with detox, but the right first level depends on withdrawal, your home, and how much structure you need.

Enhance provides detox, inpatient care, PHP, IOP, outpatient therapy and virtual treatment, so you can move between levels without changing treatment centers.

Detox and inpatient

Medically supervised alcohol detox and drug detox help you through withdrawal, with medication when you need it. Inpatient care, also called residential treatment, means you live on site.

Outpatient and virtual

A partial hospitalization program (PHP), intensive outpatient (IOP), and outpatient care let you sleep at home. Virtual addiction treatment is therapy by video once any withdrawal has been managed.

Admissions can tell you in one call whether detox should come first and which level to start in.

When to consider it

What admissions asks about first

On your first call, admissions asks about a few situations that help decide which level of care fits you.

  • You get shaky, sweaty or cannot keep food down when you stop.
  • You cannot stay away from use while you are living at home.
  • Work or family needs you to be there in person most days.
  • You have a mental health condition alongside the drinking or drug use.
  • You tried outpatient treatment before and returned to use.
  • Getting to in-person sessions every week would be hard for you.

Outpatient may fit if

  • Withdrawal is over, or it was never severe.
  • You can stay away from use while living at home.
  • You can keep a regular schedule of sessions.

If there is immediate danger, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room. For a mental health crisis, call or text 988.

What addiction treatment includes

Our treatment plans combine these evidence-based therapies with family support at every level of care.

  • Individual therapy

One-to-one sessions with a licensed therapist, where you work on what drives your drinking or drug use.

  • Group therapy

Groups led by a licensed therapist, where you build skills for long-term recovery with other people in the program.

  • Family therapy

Sessions that include family members when you want them involved, so home can support your recovery.

  • Medication management

A licensed psychiatrist prescribes medication when it is part of your plan and reviews how it is working.

  • CBT and DBT

Cognitive behavioral therapy and dialectical behavior therapy teach you to handle cravings, stress and difficult emotions.

  • Dual diagnosis care

When you have co-occurring mental health conditions, we treat them together with substance use disorders in one plan.

Substances

Substances treated in our programs

We treat alcohol addiction and drug addiction across a wide range of substances, including when you also have a mental health condition.

What happens when you call

  • You call, or send the form

You tell admissions what is happening and whether you think addiction treatment might fit.

  • We check your benefits

With your permission, we contact your insurer and find out what your plan covers.

  • You hear what it means

Admissions explains your deductible, your copay and which level of care your plan supports, in plain terms.

  • You decide

If you want to go ahead, admissions walks you through what happens next.

Benefits vary from plan to plan, and checking them does not guarantee coverage.

Common questions about addiction treatment

If your question is not answered here, call admissions at (714) 862-1907.

  • Does insurance pay for rehab?

Many commercial plans cover some addiction treatment, and the amount depends on the plan. Admissions checks your benefits with the insurer before you decide. A verification is not a promise of coverage.

  • What levels of addiction care do you offer?

Enhance provides a full continuum of care: detox, inpatient care, PHP, IOP, outpatient therapy and virtual addiction treatment, with supported living available alongside PHP and IOP.

  • How do clinicians decide which level of care someone needs?

They look at withdrawal risk, your health, your safety at home and what you have tried before. Admissions starts that conversation on your first call.

  • What happens during an intake assessment?

A clinician asks about your substance use, your physical and mental health, and your situation at home, and uses the answers to build your plan.

  • Do I need detox before inpatient care?

If stopping makes you physically sick, detox comes first, and Enhance provides it. If withdrawal is not a medical concern, admissions may start you in inpatient care, PHP or outpatient. Admissions decides that after talking with you, not from a form.

  • What is the difference between PHP and IOP for addiction?

PHP takes most of the day, and you go home at night. IOP takes part of the week, so you can keep working. Admissions can tell you which one fits your situation.

  • Can I keep working during outpatient addiction treatment?

Many people do, because IOP and outpatient therapy take only part of the week. Admissions can explain the schedule for each level before you start.

  • Does addiction treatment also treat anxiety or depression?

Yes. When you have both, our dual diagnosis care treats your mental health and your substance use together in one plan.

  • Can virtual treatment replace coming in?

Virtual care can work once you are medically stable and can stay away from use at home. It is not the right first step if you are in withdrawal or cannot stay safe at home.

  • What happens after rehab?

Addiction recovery continues after rehab, and most people step down to a lower level rather than leaving care. People leaving inpatient care often move to PHP or IOP, and supported living is an option if home is not a sober place yet.

  • Can my family be involved?

Yes. Family therapy is part of treatment when you want them included. They can also call admissions on their own if they are the ones looking for help.
