The job and the care
Why longshoremen reach out for help
Longshore work wears on the body and on mood, and many people use alcohol or drugs to cope. Enhance treats both the mental health condition and the substance use.
In person or by video
Enhance is based in Orange County, and you can choose in-person or video sessions. Come in person when the drive works, or join by video when your shift does not allow it.
If you can't attend in person or by video, admissions can refer you to another program that fits your needs.

Common questions from longshoremen
If your question is not answered here, call admissions at (714) 862-1907.
Do I have to come in person?
No. Virtual care is available if your shift or the drive makes in-person sessions hard, and admissions will help you choose.
Is there a program at the docks?
No. Enhance is based in Orange County and does not run a program at the docks. You can come to sessions in person or join them by video.
Which therapies do you use?
Treatment uses CBT, DBT and EMDR, along with individual and group counseling. Family sessions are available if you want them, and the mix is set after your assessment.
Can I keep working?
Outpatient and virtual care are designed to leave room for a job, while PHP and inpatient care require time off work. Tell admissions your real hours so they can recommend a level that works.
Call admissions about treatment around the job
Tell admissions what your shift schedule allows. They will explain whether video sessions, outpatient care or time off work is the right plan.
