Check your coverage

Send us three details and we’ll check what your plan covers, then call you back.

Benefits vary from plan to plan, and a verification is not a guarantee of coverage.

More than one plan

Which CalPERS plan do you have?

CalPERS offers more than one health plan, and the state retirement system is not the insurance company on your card. Admissions checks the plan named on your card.

The CalPERS plan

Enhance is in network with CalPERS, but that doesn't mean every CalPERS plan covers every level of care. Admissions checks what your own plan covers.

The carrier on the card

Your card may also name an insurance company, such as Anthem or Blue Shield. Admissions still checks your member ID, because the CalPERS logo alone doesn't show your benefits.

Levels of care

Levels of care your plan may cover

We offer detox, residential care, PHP, IOP, and outpatient care, and we'll check which ones your plan covers.

We check your mental health benefits the same way. Your insurance card alone doesn't tell you which levels your plan covers.

On the call

What to have ready for the call

The call goes faster when you have these details in front of you.

  • Have your member ID and the name printed on your card.
  • Know whether your card says PPO, HMO, or a marketplace plan.
  • Tell admissions if you need detox, inpatient, PHP, IOP, or outpatient care.
  • Give a phone number where admissions can reach you.

What we won't guess before we check your plan

  • Your copay, deductible, or daily rate.
  • How many days your plan will pay for.
  • Whether your plan will approve treatment.

If there is immediate danger, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room. For a mental health crisis, call or text 988.

What we treat

Conditions your benefits may cover

Your plan may cover treatment for addiction, mental health conditions, or both at the same time.

What happens when you call

See what happens when you call admissions or send us the form.

  • You call or send the form

You share your member ID, the name on your card, and whether you need addiction treatment, mental health care, or both.

  • Admissions calls your plan

With your permission, admissions asks your plan what it covers for the level of care you need.

  • Admissions explains your benefits

We walk you through your deductible, your copay, and whether your plan needs prior authorization before treatment starts.

  • You decide

Nothing starts until you decide to go ahead. If you're not ready, there's no pressure and no obligation.

Benefits vary from plan to plan, and checking them does not guarantee coverage.

Cost and coverage

What your plan may cover

What you pay depends on your deductible, your copay and the level your insurer approves. Admissions checks your benefits with the insurer and tells you the figures before you decide anything.

We're in network with most insurance plans. If your plan isn't listed, call us and we'll check it for you.

Common questions about CalPERS

If your question is not answered here, call admissions at (714) 862-1907.

  • Does CalPERS cover rehab?

It depends on which CalPERS health plan you chose. Admissions verifies that plan, because CalPERS benefits are not the same for every member.

  • What if my card says Anthem or Blue Shield?

Admissions checks your CalPERS plan with that company, using the member ID on your card. Call with your card in hand, and we'll tell you what your plan covers.

  • What will the call tell me?

Admissions tells you what your plan says about detox, inpatient, PHP, IOP, or outpatient care, and what you would pay. The call does not approve an admission.

  • Is verification a guarantee?

No. Benefits vary by plan, and your plan may still require prior authorization before treatment starts. You decide what to do after you hear the results.

Have admissions check your CalPERS plan

Find the insurance company's name on your card, then call. Admissions needs your member ID, not only the CalPERS name.
